Reverse description Zeus Aëtophoros enthroned left on a low backless throne, his nearly nude figure draped about the lower body; his outstretched right hand supports an eagle with wings closed, while his left hand grasps a tall upright sceptre. The Greek legend ΑΛΕΞΑΝΔΡΟΥ runs along the right field. In the left field a trident symbol is placed vertically, and below the throne a monogram control mark appears, both serving as mint and issue identifiers. The composition is rendered in a confident, classicizing style characteristic of the Pella mint during the reign of Alexander III.
