| Obverse description | Youthful head of Heracles facing right, depicted beardless with idealised features, wearing the Nemean lion skin headdress whose scalp and knotted forelegs are rendered in fine relief. The musculature of the hero's neck and jaw is boldly modelled in the high-relief style characteristic of early Macedonian royal coinage. The lion's mane frames the portrait with deeply incised striations, its gaping jaws surmounting the hero's brow. The field is plain, with no legend, the entire design filling the flan to its irregular edge. |

| Reverse description | Zeus Aëtophoros enthroned left on a low backless throne, his nude torso shown in three-quarter view, draped from the waist down. He extends his right arm forward, bearing an eagle with spread wings, while his left hand grasps a long sceptre rising vertically behind him. A monogram appears in the left field. The reverse legend ΑΛΕΞΑΝΔΡΟΥ runs along the right and lower fields in clear Greek majuscules, identifying the coin as issued in the name of Alexander. |
