Obverse description Head of the deified Herakles facing right, wearing the Nemean lion-skin headdress, the scalp covering the crown and knotted beneath the chin, with the beast's paws visible at the neck. The hair is rendered in flowing, naturalistic locks framing the face, in the refined Hellenistic artistic tradition. The portrait is executed in high relief against a plain field, characteristic of the Alexander-type coinage produced by successor mints.
