| Obverse description | Bare head of the youthful, beardless Heracles in right profile, enveloped in the scalp of the Nemean lion, the open jaws of the beast forming a headdress over the brow, with the paws knotted at the throat. The curling locks of hair are visible beneath the lion skin at the nape of the neck, and the finely modelled facial features — strong nose, parted lips, and prominent chin — reflect the Hellenistic portrait tradition. The field is plain and unlettered, with a beaded border visible along the coin's periphery. |
