Obverse description Youthful beardless head of Heracles in right-facing profile, wearing the Nemean lion-skin headdress with the scalp drawn over the crown and the forelegs knotted beneath the chin. The musculature of the lion's muzzle and paws is rendered with fine detail, while Heracles' idealized facial features — smooth brow, almond-shaped eye, and softly parted lips — reflect the Hellenistic portrait tradition associating the hero with Alexander the Great. The hair is rendered in tight, plastic curls escaping from beneath the headdress. No legend appears on the obverse; the field is otherwise plain.
