| Obverse description | Head of the deified Herakles facing right, wearing the Nemean lion scalp headdress, the paws knotted at the throat; the facial features rendered in fine Hellenistic style with deeply modeled cheeks, strong jawline, and slightly parted lips. The lion skin is depicted in high relief, with the mane cascading naturally around the hero's neck and shoulders. No legend appears on the obverse, as is standard for this coinage type. The flan is broad and slightly irregular, characteristic of posthumous Alexandrine tetradrachms struck at a western mint. |
