| Reverse description | Zeus Aëtophoros enthroned left on a high-backed throne, his muscular torso nude, lower body draped, right hand outstretched presenting an eagle perched with wings closed, and left hand resting on a tall sceptre. A small Nike figure stands in the left field before the throne, and the mint control monogram EX appears beneath the throne between the legs. The legend ΒΑΣΙΛΕΩΣ is inscribed along the lower exergual line, and ΑΛΕΞΑΝΔΡΟΥ runs vertically along the right field. The design follows the canonical Alexandrine reverse type as struck at posthumous Diadoch mints, here attributed to Corinth. |
