Corinth was among the most active mints producing posthumous Alexanders following the king's death in 323 BC, striking coinage that circulated throughout the Macedonian successor world rather than reflecting any local Corinthian political authority. These issues served the practical demands of the Diadochi wars — moving armies required payroll, and the Alexander type was universally accepted.
Price 695 places this issue within the Corinthian series datable to the reign of Cassander, who controlled much of mainland Greece during this period.
