| Obverse description | Youthful head of Herakles facing right, wearing the Nemean lion's scalp headdress, with the lion's mane rendered in bold, flowing relief framing the face. The facial features display the idealized Lysippan style characteristic of Alexander-type coinage, with a slightly open mouth, prominent brow, and well-modeled cheek. The scalp's forelegs are knotted beneath the chin, and the reverse side of the pelt falls in waves across the neck and shoulder. The flan is slightly irregular, as is typical of hammered issues from this period, with a beaded border visible along portions of the rim. |
