| Obverse description | Youthful, beardless head of Heracles facing right, enveloped in the scalp of the Nemean lion, the lion's jaws framing his forehead and the pelt draped loosely around his neck and shoulders. The portrait is rendered in fine high relief, displaying sensitively modelled facial features characteristic of the Lysippan tradition. The curling hair of Heracles is visible beneath the lion-skin headdress, and the folds of the pelt are rendered with naturalistic detail. No legend appears on the obverse field. |

| Reverse description | Zeus Aetophoros enthroned left on a low stool-throne, his partially draped figure rendered in authoritative high relief. In his extended right hand he holds an eagle facing outward, while his left hand grasps a long sceptre. The throne back is decorated with Nikai as finials. In the left field an amphora appears as a mint control symbol, and the letters ΔΕ appear below the throne as a secondary control mark. The Greek legend ΒΑΣΙΛΕΩΣ ΑΛΕΞΑΝΔΡΟΥ runs along the right and upper fields. |
