Posthumous issues struck at Corinth in Alexander's name began after the city came under Macedonian control and continued well into the wars of the Diadochi — the brutal succession conflicts that fragmented his empire following his death in 323 BC. Corinth was a strategically critical mint, and these tetradrachms circulated as instruments of military finance as much as trade coinage, moving through the hands of mercenary contractors and competing Successor generals alike.
