Obverse description Youthful beardless head of Heracles in right profile, enveloped in the scalp of the Nemean lion, the gaping jaws framing the forehead and the forepaws knotted at the neck. The facial features are rendered with fine Hellenistic naturalism, with wavy hair visible beneath the headdress. The dotted border frames the design on an irregularly shaped flan typical of late Alexandrine posthumous issues.

Reverse description Zeus Aëtophoros enthroned left on a low stool-throne, his nude upper body rendered with classical authority; he extends his right hand forward bearing an eagle, while his left hand rests upon a tall sceptre. The Greek legend ΒΑΣΙΛΕΩΣ to the right and ΑΛΕΞΑΝΔΡΟΥ below identifies the royal issuer. In the left field, a facing head of Hera set upon an Ionic capital serves as a mint control symbol, with a monogram appearing below the throne identifying the issuing authority at Chalcis.
