| Beschrijving voorzijde | Youthful right-facing head of Herakles in three-quarter profile, his idealized features rendered in fine Hellenistic style with wavy curls visible at the temple and nape. The hero is clad in the Nemean lion skin headdress, with the scalp drawn tightly over the crown and the beast's open jaws framing the forehead, while the forepaws are knotted at the throat. The finely modelled facial relief displays strong cheekbones, a straight nose, and slightly parted lips characteristic of the Lysippan-influenced coinage struck posthumously in Alexander's name. The field is plain, with no legend on the obverse, consistent with the Babylonian mint production of this series. |
