Beschrijving voorzijde Youthful beardless head of Heracles in right profile, wearing the Nemean lion skin headdress, the scalp drawn over the crown with the beast's jaws framing the face and its paws knotted at the neck. Aanvullende informatie

Struck at Argos during a period when the city was caught between Macedonian ambitions and the Achaean League's shifting allegiances, this issue belongs to the posthumous Alexander coinage that flooded the eastern Mediterranean for well over a century after the king's death in 323 BC. Argos was producing these tetradrachms under Macedonian authority during the reign of Philip V, whose early years saw him consolidate control over much of the Peloponnese through the Social War of 220–217 BC.

Price 727 is a relatively scarce Argive emission within the broader posthumous series.
