| Beschrijving voorzijde | Youthful head of Heracles facing right, depicted beardless with idealized features in the Lysippan tradition. The hero is clad in the nemean lion skin headdress, with the scalp drawn over the crown of the head and the forelegs knotted beneath the chin, rendered in fine relief with detailed musculature. Curling locks of hair emerge from beneath the lion skin at the temple and nape. The portrait is set within a dotted border, occupying most of the flan with confident, high-relief workmanship characteristic of the Amphipolis mint. |
