Reverse description Zeus Aëtophoros enthroned left on a low backless throne, his nude upper body rendered in three-quarter view; his outstretched right hand supports an eagle with closed wings, while his left hand grasps a tall lotus-tipped sceptre. The Greek legend ΑΛΕΞΑΝΔΡΟΥ runs along the right field. Monograms appear in the left field and below the throne, serving as mint control marks characteristic of the Amphipolis issue. The composition follows the canonical Alexander-type reverse type established during the king's lifetime.
