Tetradrachm In the name of Alexander III

Alexander's death in 323 BC triggered an immediate problem for his successors: coinage bearing his types had become the dominant trade currency across the eastern Mediterranean and into Central Asia, and abandoning them would have been commercial suicide. The Diadochi — Lysimachus, Ptolemy, Seleucus, and others — continued striking tetradrachms in Alexander's name for decades, making attribution to a specific mint and authority genuinely difficult without die studies. Müller 237 falls within this posthumous production window, when the types functioned more as a monetary standard than as royal propaganda.
