Obverse description Youthful head of Heracles facing right, depicted beardless with idealized Hellenistic features, wearing the lion skin headdress tied beneath the chin with the scalp covering the crown of the head and the forepaws knotted at the neck. The curling locks of hair emerge beneath the lion skin at the temples and nape, rendered with fine detail characteristic of the Alexander-type coinage. The portrait follows the established iconographic tradition assimilating Alexander III with the divine hero Heracles. No legend or inscription appears on the obverse field.
