Reverse description Full-length figure of Athena Alkidemos striding vigorously to the right, her right arm raised to hurl a spear and her left arm extended forward bearing a large round shield. In the right field, a small eagle with closed wings perches rightward atop a thunderbolt, serving as a dynastic emblem of the Ptolemaic house. Also in the right field appears the MAP monogram. The bold, dynamic rendering of Athena reflects the influence of Lysippan sculptural traditions adapted for numismatic purposes. The reverse legend ΑΛΕΞΑΝΔΡΟΥ, in Greek characters, runs along the right or upper field, identifying the coin as issued in the name of Alexander.
