| Obverse description | Youthful head of Heracles facing right, beardless, wearing the Nemean lion skin headdress tied beneath the chin, with the scalp and paws rendered in fine relief. The hair is rendered in tight curling locks above the forehead, and the musculature of the neck is clearly articulated. The portrait is executed in the idealized Hellenistic style characteristic of the Alexandrine coinage tradition. |
