| Reverse description | Zeus Aëtophoros enthroned left on a backless throne, his nude torso draped at the lower body; his outstretched right hand supports an eagle with closed wings, while his left hand grasps a long sceptre. In the left field, a rose symbol and a monogram serve as mint or magistrate control marks. The Greek legend ΒΑΣΙΛΕΩΣ ΑΛΕΞΑΝΔΡΟΥ runs along the right field and lower reverse, identifying the coin as struck in the name of King Alexander. The composition follows the canonical reverse type established under Alexander III and perpetuated by his successors and epigonoi. |
