Obverse description Youthful, beardless head of Heracles in three-quarter right profile, wearing the Nemean lion skin headdress, the scalp knotted at the neck with the paws visible at the lower right. The facial features are finely modelled in the late Hellenistic style, with curling locks of hair emerging beneath the lion skin and framing the face. The high-relief portrait, likely idealized after Alexander III, displays strong, regular features characteristic of the Lysippan portrait tradition.
