Posthumous Alexanders — struck by autonomous cities, successor generals, and opportunistic mints across the eastern Mediterranean after Alexander's death in 323 BC — present one of the thorniest attribution problems in Greek numismatics. Without a clear mint signature, this piece falls into the broad category of issues that exploited the universal currency value of Alexander's coinage types, which traded on name recognition across markets from Macedonia to Bactria. The 310–280 BC window places it squarely in the early Diadochi period, when controlling the right to issue recognizable coinage was itself a political act.
