Reverse description Zeus Aëtophoros enthroned left upon a stool-throne, his eagle perched on his outstretched right hand and a long sceptre held upright in his left; the figure is rendered with a himation draped across the lower body. In the left field, a monogram appears above a sphinx seated left, serving as the civic symbol of Chios. A second monogram is placed below the throne. The reverse inscription ΑΛΕΞΑΝΔΡΟΥ runs along the right field, identifying the coin as issued in the name of Alexander.
