| Obverse description | Youthful head of Heracles facing right, clad in the Nemean lion skin headdress, the scalp of the lion drawn tightly over the crown and tied beneath the chin, rendered in fine Hellenistic style with naturalistic curling locks visible at the nape. The facial features are strongly modelled with a smooth, beardless visage, slightly parted lips, and a bold profile characteristic of the posthumous Alexander coinage. The field is plain and unlettered, with no border of dots visible on this specimen. |
