The curling mane of the Nemean lion cascades across the neck and shoulder, rendered with fine naturalistic detail characteristic of the Lysippan artistic tradition. The broad, idealized facial features — strong jaw, slightly parted lips, and deeply set eyes — conform to the canonical portrait type established under Alexander III.
