裏面の説明 Zeus Aëtophoros enthroned to the left upon a plain stool-throne, his nude torso shown in three-quarter view; he extends his right hand forward upon which an eagle stands with wings closed, while his left hand holds a long upright sceptre. In the left field, a lion skin is draped over a club, serving as a secondary control symbol. The ethnic inscription ΑΛΕΞΑΝΔΡΟΥ runs in the right field, identifying the issue as struck in the name of Alexander. The composition follows the canonical reverse type established by Alexander III of Macedon and perpetuated extensively by his successors and autonomous mints throughout the Hellenistic world.

追加情報

Posthumous Alexander tetradrachms were struck by dozens of mints across the former empire for generations after his death in 323 BC, making attribution of unsigned issues genuinely difficult — SNG Saroglos 689 places this piece among the uncertain Greek mainland issues, distinct from the prolific Macedonian and Asia Minor series. The political motive was straightforward: Alexander's name and types carried monetary credibility that no successor's own coinage could yet match.

The 310–280 BC window brackets a period of near-constant warfare among the Diadochi, and city mints often struck these pieces to fund local defense rather than out of any loyalty to Alexander's memory.
