Obverse description Griffin springing to the left in high relief, rendered with finely detailed feathering on the folded wings and scaled body, set upon a ground line. An amphora appears in the upper field above the creature's back. The entire design is enclosed within a beaded border, characteristic of the early Abderite coinage style of the mid-fifth century BC.

Reverse description A raised quadripartite incuse square, divided into four triangular sections by diagonal ridges meeting at the center, all contained within a shallow outer incuse square. The magistrate's name in Greek legend, reading ΕΠΙ ΕΡΜΟΚΡΑΤΙΔΕΩ (under the magistracy of Hermokratides), is disposed around the raised square, identifying the eponymous civic official responsible for this issue.
