| Reverse description | Youthful male head facing left, lightly bearded with tousled hair rendered in fine detail, set within a shallow linear square frame at the center of a deep incuse square. The magistrate's name ΗΓΗΣΑΓΟΡΗΣ (Hegesagores) is inscribed in Greek letters distributed around the four sides of the linear square, reading within the incuse field. This distinctive sunken square reverse with central portrait and encircling legend is a hallmark of Abderite civic coinage of the Classical period. |
