Obverse description Laureate bust of Emperor Hadrian facing right, draped over the left shoulder, rendered in the provincial style typical of the Alexandrian mint. The imperial effigy displays the characteristic features of Hadrian, including a short beard, a hallmark of his reign. The surrounding field bears the Greek legend AVT KAI TPAI AΔPIA CEB, identifying him as Emperor Caesar Trajan Hadrian Augustus. The flan is irregular, as is characteristic of hammered provincial coinage of this period. The coin shows an olive-brown patina with traces of green encrustation consistent with ancient burial.
