Obverse description Facing three-quarter bust of Aphrodite, turned slightly to the left, rendered in high relief with finely detailed wavy hair swept back and gathered at the nape with a cluster of curls. The goddess wears a delicate beaded necklace, and a small earring is visible below the ear. The facial features are rendered in the refined style characteristic of Knidian coinage of the early fourth century BC, exhibiting the idealized beauty associated with the famous cult of Aphrodite at Knidos. The field is plain, with the portrait nearly filling the flan.
