Reverse description A lion's head rendered in high relief faces left with jaws agape and tongue prominently protruding, conveying ferocity and power in a style typical of late Classical Asia Minor coinage. Beneath the lion's head, a tunny fish swims to the left, serving as the traditional civic badge of Kyzikos and a reference to the city's maritime identity. A small dolphin appears behind the lion's head, giving this issue its distinguishing epithet within the series. The reverse legend KYZIKHNΩN ('of the Kyzikenes') is inscribed in the field, identifying the issuing city-state.
