Antioch ad Meandrum was a small Lydian city whose autonomous silver coinage was produced during the long twilight of Seleucid collapse, when civic mints across western Asia Minor asserted local authority by striking in their own names and under named magistrates. Diotrephes was one such magistrate — his name appearing as the issuing authority rather than any royal figure, reflecting the city's de facto independence during a period when neither the Seleucids nor Rome had fully consolidated control over the interior of Asia Minor.
