| Reverse description | The reverse presents the Greek date legend ENA TOY L (meaning 'Year 9') arranged in three lines within a prominent laurel wreath, denoting the ninth regnal year of Diocletian corresponding to 292–293 AD. The wreath is tied at the base with a central knot, and a pellet or small symbol appears above the first line of the inscription at the top of the wreath. Below the wreath, a small mint mark or control mark is visible in the exergue. This purely epigraphic reverse type is characteristic of late Alexandrian potin tetradrachms, where the regnal year served as the principal reverse device. |
