Obverse description Youthful head of Heracles facing right, depicted beardless and enveloped in the Nemean lion skin headdress, with the lion's scalp secured over the crown and the forepaws knotted beneath the chin. The facial features are rendered in fine Hellenistic style with strong relief, conveying the heroic ideal associated with Alexander III. The border consists of a raised dotted rim. The coin is struck on a broad, slightly irregular flan with characteristic hammered fabric.
