Obverse description Jugate busts of Demetrius I Soter and Laodice facing right in close association, the king portrayed diademed with a broad fillet encircling his head, and the queen draped and adorned with a stephane crown. The portraits are rendered in the Hellenistic court style characteristic of Seleucid royal coinage, with finely detailed facial features and drapery. The busts are positioned in overlapping profile, with Demetrius I at front, conveying dynastic authority and shared sovereignty.

Reverse description Tyche, the goddess of fortune, is depicted seated left upon a backless throne supported by a wreath-bearing Nike, holding a long sceptre in her right hand and a cornucopia in her left, symbolising royal prosperity and divine favour. In the outer left field appear the monogram HP in ligate form and a palm branch, serving as mint or magistrate marks. The exergue bears the partial legend ΣΩΤΗΡ[ΟΣ], the epithet of the king, while the principal reverse legend reading BAΣIΛE[ΩΣ] ΔHMHTPIOY ΣΩΤΗΡ[ΟΣ] — 'of King Demetrius Soter' — frames the field. The composition is characteristic of the Seleucid coinage struck at Seleucia on the Tigris during the reign of Demetrius I.
