| Obverse description | Diademed head of Demetrius I Poliorcetes facing right, wearing a royal diadem tied at the back with flowing ends; the portrait exhibits youthful, idealized features rendered in a fine Hellenistic style with full, wavy hair drawn back from the forehead. Bull horns, an attribute identifying the king with the god Poseidon, rise from above the diadem, though they appear subtle in the die execution. The finely engraved portrait is set within a dotted border, with the field plain and unencumbered, emphasizing the regal character of the effigy. |
