He holds an aplustre (stern ornament of a ship) in his outstretched right hand and a trident — his divine attribute — in his left. A monogram appears on the rock beside him and a second monogram is placed in the outer right field. The legend ΒΑΣΙΛΕΩΣ ΔΗΜΗΤΡΙΟΥ, meaning 'of King Demetrius,' runs along the perimeter, identifying the royal issuer. |
