| Obverse description | Diademed head of Demetrius I Poliorcetes facing right, wearing a diadem adorned with bull's horns — the divine attribute associating him with Poseidon — rendered in fine Hellenistic portrait style with flowing, elaborately curled hair falling behind the neck. The facial features are idealized yet individualised, conveying youthful authority and divine pretension characteristic of the Diadochi period. The portrait is set within a prominent beaded border encircling the entire flan. No inscription appears on the obverse. |
