| Obverse description | Diademed and horned head of Demetrius I Poliorcetes facing right, rendered in fine Hellenistic style with flowing, elaborately curled hair. The diadem is tied at the nape with trailing ends visible, while a bull's horn rises from the forehead, symbolizing divine or heroic pretension. The portrait is bold and idealised, with strong facial features, a prominent brow, and a slightly parted mouth. The flan is broad and the relief is high, characteristic of Amphipolis mint production of this period. |
