Reverse description Poseidon Pelagaios standing in three-quarter pose to the left, his right foot raised and resting upon a rocky outcrop, nude but for a chlamys draped over his extended left arm. He holds a long trident in his left hand, the shaft angled before him. The legend ΒΑΣΙΛΕΩΣ ΔΗΜΗΤΡΙΟΥ ('of King Demetrius') runs along the right and left fields respectively, with control monograms placed to the inner left and outer right. The composition conveys divine authority and maritime dominion, befitting Demetrius's claim to command of the seas.
