| Obverse description | Diademed and horned head of Demetrius I Poliorcetes facing right, rendered in fine Hellenistic style with richly detailed flowing hair swept back from the forehead and bound by a royal diadem. A bull's horn, symbol of divine power and association with Poseidon, rises above the right temple. The portrait is executed with pronounced three-dimensional modeling, displaying strong facial features characteristic of the individualistic portraiture of the Successor period. The field is plain, and the design is enclosed within a dotted border. |

In his extended right hand he holds an aphlaston (the ornamental stern piece of a warship), referencing Demetrius's celebrated naval victories, while his left hand rests on an upright trident.
