Obverse description Diademed head of Demetrius I Poliorcetes facing right, adorned with bull horns curving from the diadem, symbolizing divine association with Poseidon. The portrait is rendered in high relief in the Hellenistic style, with finely detailed curling hair swept back beneath the diadem. The strong, idealized facial features reflect the heroic royal portraiture characteristic of the Successor period. The field is smooth and unlettered, focusing attention entirely on the commanding effigy.

Reverse description Poseidon Pelagaeus standing nude facing left, right foot resting upon a rock or prow, body turned in a contrapposto stance. He holds a long trident upright in his left hand and rests his right hand upon his knee. The god wears a taenia or diadem around his head. The legend ΒΑΣΙΛΕΩΣ to the left and ΔΗΜΗΤΡΙΟΥ to the right of the figure is inscribed in Greek characters. A star symbol with rays appears in the left field, serving as a mint control mark.
