Obverse description Slow quadriga proceeding to left, driven by a bearded charioteer in long chiton who holds the reins taut; Nike flies left above the horses to crown them with a wreath. The scene is rendered in the archaic Syracusan style, with the horses depicted in profile at a deliberate walking pace characteristic of the earliest Deinomenid coinage. The composition fills the broad flan, leaving a plain exergual line below the horses' hooves.
