| Beschrijving voorzijde | Highly stylised Celtic interpretation of a laureate male head facing right, derived from Macedonian prototypes. The wreath is rendered as a bold arrangement of large pellet-like elements radiating around the head, characteristic of late La Tène artistic abstraction. The facial features are reduced to schematic forms, with a pronounced open mouth and deeply recessed eye socket visible in the field. Flowing hair locks rendered as curved relief lines extend behind the head. The overall composition reflects the progressive Celtic debasement of the Hellenistic coin type. |
