| Obverse description | Laureate and draped bust of Emperor Commodus facing right, rendered in the distinctive provincial style of the Alexandrian mint. The emperor's effigy displays characteristic late 2nd-century portraiture with a wreath of laurel leaves crowning the head. The Greek imperial legend encircles the bust, identifying the emperor by his full titulature. The flan is irregular and slightly uneven, typical of hammered billon tetradrachms from the Alexandrian series. |
