Obverse description Laureate, draped, and cuirassed bust of Emperor Claudius II Gothicus facing right, rendered in the provincial style characteristic of the Alexandrian mint. The emperor's effigy displays a radiate laurel wreath atop the head, with drapery and cuirass visible at the truncation of the shoulder. The surrounding Greek legend, partially legible on this worn specimen, reads AYT K KΛAYΔIOΣ ΣEB, identifying the emperor by his full imperial titulature. The portrait exhibits the broad, rounded facial features typical of mid-third-century Alexandrian die engraving.
