Obverse description Radiate and cuirassed bust of Emperor Claudius II Gothicus facing right, with short beard, set within an irregular flan typical of Alexandrian provincial coinage. The emperor's portrait is rendered in the local Egyptian workshop style, with broad facial features and layered cuirass visible at the shoulder. The encircling Greek legend reads AYT K KΛAYΔIOC CEB, identifying the emperor by his imperial titulature. The radiate crown, a mark of imperial divinity, is clearly rendered with pointed rays. The overall style reflects the debased billon coinage of the late Roman Egyptian mint.
