Cassander, regent and then effective ruler of Macedonia, continued striking Alexander-type tetradrachms in the conqueror's name long after Alexander's death in 323 BC — a deliberate political calculation, not administrative inertia. Legitimacy in the Successor wars ran through Alexander's image, and Amphipolis was the most productive mint in Macedonia for this type throughout Cassander's tenure.
