Obverse description Laureate, draped, and cuirassed bust of Emperor Caracalla facing right, rendered in high relief with characteristic short beard and forceful expression. The emperor's hair is shown in thick, radiating locks above the brow, with the laurel wreath clearly defined. The paludamentum is fastened at the right shoulder, and folds of drapery are visible at the truncation. The circular Greek legend runs along the outer border, identifying the emperor by his imperial titulature.
